Sopa Lodges has been keenly monitoring travel patterns that have resulted from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period we have continued to closely engage with our Trade Partners in order to make informed decisions to ensure we are sensitive to the concerns and safety of our clients and employees alike.

The situation continues to remain very fluid, and while we are conscious that the dynamics are beginning to change with the opening up of airspace, tourist arrivals to our destination remain unpredictable and indeterminate.
In recognition of the challenges and emerging travel patterns, this updated COVID-19 policy serves to address concerns that have been raised.

Existing bookings

  • Existing bookings refer to all bookings made before 26th August 2020.
  • In our previous communication, we had allowed for existing bookings to be postponed to future dates without any financial penalty so long as the arrival date fell before 30th June 2021. We are now extending this date to 31st December 2021. However, any rate increase resulting from postponement will be borne by the client.
  • Circuit Discount rates or other Special Offers that have been booked can be carried over to new dates in either 2020 or 2021. This is valid provided the request to defer is received 60 days before the original arrival date.
  • Bookings cancelled 30 days prior to arrival will not be subject to any penalties. However, for those cancelled within 30 days, existing cancellation charges will apply. This only applies to bookings falling between now and 30th June 2021.
  • Sopa Lodges reserve the right to request the Agent to either release the booking or make a 20% deposit within 48 hours when necessary.
  • For bookings falling between 1st July 2021 and 31st December 2021, prevailing bookings terms and conditions will apply.

New Bookings:

  • New bookings refer to bookings made between 26th August 2020 and 30th June 2021.
  • No deposit required to confirm a new booking unless the booking exceeds 6 rooms, which will require a 20% deposit upon confirmation.
  • Full payment will be due 30 days prior to arrival or the booking will be released.
  • No cancellation fees up to 30 days prior to arrival. Cancellations within 30 days of arrival will be bound by normal cancellation fees, unless a guest is unable to leave their country or enter Kenya/Tanzania due to COVID-19 travel restrictions imposed, in which case no cancellation fees will be charged.
  • Space is subject to availability.
  • Sopa Lodges reserve the right to request the Agent to either release the booking or make a 20% deposit within 48 hours when necessary.

Our COVID-19 Policy updated 26 August 2020 will remain in place until such time that we need to revise it to reflect new circumstances.
